OPSWORQ

When it’s on fire

Something’s on fire. Call, and we’ll tell you straight.

A key person gone, a failed system change, a customer about to leave. The first 72 hours decide whether it’s a bad month or a bad year.

Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Eastern, a person answers. After hours, leave a message and we’ll call back first thing.

You don’t have to be a client. Telling you whether we can help costs nothing.

What counts

What we mean by on fire.

  • A key person left, and nobody else knows how their part works.
  • A system change went wrong, and the business is working around it.
  • A large customer is unhappy and close to leaving.
  • A deadline nobody can meet: an audit, an inspection, a buyer’s request for documents.
  • Month-end that won’t close.
  • A process that broke, and keeps breaking.

The first 72 hours

What happens in the first 72 hours.

  1. Step 1

    Stabilize

Stop it getting worse: who does what today, what pauses, what the customer hears.

  2. Step 2

    Triage

What’s actually broken, what’s only a symptom, and what can wait.

  3. Step 3

    Tell people

Staff, customers, lenders or partners: who needs to know what, and from whom.

  4. Step 4

    Plan

The fix in the order that pays, with an owner and a date for each step.

Pricing

What it costs.

$150 an hour; $225 after hours, weekends and holidays. Billed in 15-minute increments, no contract. If it turns into a project, we quote it in writing before that work starts.

Every rate, every term

After the fire

Most fires start as a $5 problem.

Once it’s out, we’ll show you where it started and what would stop the next one. We tell you what we saw. What you do about it is your decision.

Questions

Questions people ask.

Do we have to be a client?

No.

Can you start today?

Usually, in business hours. If we can’t, we’ll tell you when we can and what to do in the meantime.

Is this IT or operations?

If the technology itself has failed, it’s opsworq.net/get-help/. If the business is failing around the technology, or nothing technical is wrong at all, it’s here. Not sure? It’s the same number.

A sentence is plenty. “We’re not sure” is a fine answer.
