We are in Martinsville, Virginia, and a good share of our work is within an hour of it. The rest is not, and that is deliberate rather than a stretch. Below is exactly where we work, and the honest explanation of why the radius is as wide as it is.
Distance stopped being the constraint.
Distance is a constraint for a provider whose delivery method is driving to you. Ours isn’t.
The traditional managed IT model needs to be local because it is reactive. Something breaks, a technician gets in a van, and the quality of the service is roughly the quality of the drive. Under that model a client two hours away is a client who waits.
Our model puts monitoring in place the day you say yes and does the onboarding as a designed piece of work rather than an improvisation — the environment documented, the access mapped, the runbooks written. After that, the great majority of what a business needs from an IT provider happens without anybody being in the building, and it happens faster than a van.
So the on-site visit stops being the delivery mechanism and becomes a review cadence. Quarterly is our default, because quarterly is what the model actually needs — not what the distance allows. When a project, a migration, a build-out or a bad week needs us there more often, we are there more often, and that is written into the arrangement rather than negotiated at the time.
Some work wants hands in the room. Cabling, a physical build-out, a floor walk during discovery, the first day of an onboarding. We plan those as visits rather than pretending they can be done down a wire.

A few times a year a piece of work justifies going wherever it is — a build-out, a migration, an assessment somebody wants done properly and cannot staff internally. We take those, and we are straight about the travel cost rather than burying it.
In practice that has meant Charlotte, Richmond, Asheville, Wilmington and Fayetteville; Columbia, Charleston and Greenville; Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga; Atlanta and Savannah. If the job is the right shape, the distance is a line item rather than an obstacle.
For a managed IT relationship, which is a long one, the Southeast is where the arrangement works well for both sides.
